Jan Erik Frantsvåg finished his education in banking, economics and computing in the 1970s. After 13 years of career in banking (1979–1992), he started a new career in university administration at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway in 1993. Then, in 2006, he started yet a new career working as an Open Access Adviser at UiT Library – working locally, nationally and internationally on OA. He is Chair of the SPARC Europe board and a member of DOAJ Advisory Board. He is interested in the economics of (OA) publishing, offsetting deals and publication funds.
