About PUBMET

The 1st PUBMET2014 conference under the title “The Plurality of Approaches to the Scholarly Publishing and Assessment – Trends and Practices in the Scholarly Communication, Metrics and Assessment” was organized by the University of Zadar as a part of the 10th Anniversary of the Department of Information Sciences, and was held September 18-19, 2014 in Zadar. PUBMET conference encompass two main themes: the first is directed toward scholarly communication and Publishing as the most visible channel, and the second toward Metrics and assessment. From the very beginning the organisers were committed to ensure continuity of the PUBMET Conference which was planned to be held annually.

The 2nd PUBMET2015 Conference was held September 24-25, 2015 in Zadar under the title “Scholarly Publishing in the Context of Open Science” and organized by the Department of Infomation Sciences University of Zadar with Ruđer Bošković Institute as a coorganizer.

The 3rd PUBMET2016 Conference was held October 20-21, 2016 in Zadar and organized by the Department of Infomation Sciences at the University of Zadar and coorganizers University of Zagreb and Ruđer Bošković Institute.

The 4th PUBMET2017 Conference will be held September 21-22, 2017 with pre-conference day on September 20 with pre-conference day on September 19, for the first time in Zagreb at the Faculty of Engineering and Computing of the University of Zagreb. PUBMET2017 Conference on Scholarly Publishing in the Context of Open Science is organized by the Department of Infomation Sciences at the University of Zadar and coorganizers University of Zagreb and Ruđer Bošković Institute, with financial support from the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia.

The themes of the conference are mostly focused around the openness, new trends in publishing of scholarly journals and books, editorial practices and ethical issues, advances in digital scholarly publishing, new forms and formats of digital publishing, innovations in the peer review processes, and scholarly impact, including relationship between traditional and new metrics and the new models and approaches to the assessment of both researchers and academic institutions.

The organizers brought together a diverse community of researchers, university teachers, publishers, editors, librarians/information specialists, policy-makers, as well as experts from other fields of research and development.
