Raf Guns obtained his PhD in Library and Information Science in 2012. His bibliometric research focuses on the analysis of scholarly networks and publication patterns in the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH). Currently, he is coordinator of the Antwerp branch of the Flemish Centre for R&D Monitoring (ECOOM), where he contributes to the further development of VABB-SHW, a comprehensive database of Flemish SSH publications.
