Želimir Kurtanjek

Želimir Kurtanjek is a retired professor of chemical engineering with an interest in biotechnology, biostatistics and big data analytics. Želimir Kurtanjek graduated in physics from the Faculty of Science in Zagreb in 1971, and as a Fulbright Fellow in 1979 he earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Department of Chemical Engineering, The University of Houston, Texas, USA. Following his doctorate, he completed his postdoctoral training in 1989 at the Chemical Engineering Department, University of Ghent, Belgium.

In 1998 he was appointed full professor for the scientific field of Chemical Engineering, and at the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology he taught several subjects. He has also taught at graduate and doctoral studies at the Faculty of Technology in Osijek and the Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka. As part of the European Union's TEMPUS project, he was a guest teacher at the Department of Biological Sciences, Coleraine, UK in 1992, where he taught mathematical modeling.

He has been the editor-in-chief of CABEQ magazine for the last 20 years.
