“Trends and Practices in the Scholarly Communication, Metrics and Assessment”

PubMet 2014: The Plurality of Approaches to the Scholarly Publishing and Assessment

Zadar, Croatia18-19 September 2014

The organisers are committed to ensure continuity of the PubMet conference which will be held annually. The themes of this year’s conference are mostly focused around the new trends in publishing of scholarly journals and books, new formats of digital publishing, innovations in the peer review processes, the relationship between traditional and new metrics, the new models and approaches to the assessment of both researchers and academic institutions — bearing in mind differences and specificities among research disciplines. The aim of the conference is to gather researchers, university teachers, publishers, editorials, librarians and experts from a vast array of scientific research. Participation in this conference is an opportunity to share and gain new knowledge and to exchange different opinions. Gathering various members of the research and academic community around many of the open questions concerning scientific communication could also lead to the proposal of the framework for national politics pertaining to scholarly publishing and assessment.
This conference encompasses two main themes: the first is directed toward scholarly communication (and Publishing as the most visible channel) and the second toward Metrics and assessment. Both themes will be represented by a combination of invited talks, shorter presentations by registered speakers and a panel discussion conducted by acknowledged experts from Croatia and abroad.
